FOUNDATION OF ISLAMIC STUDIES COURSE DESCRIPTION

Foundation of Islamic Studies is a certificate program in Urdu language which covers the basic knowledge about Islamic Sciences. This program has been carefully designed for the students who wish to start their journey of Islamic knowledge from the basics and can move to the advance level in Islamic Studies. It provides the students with the deep understanding of various areas including Aqeedah, Tafsir, Seerah, Fiqh and Arabic Language. FOIS program is taught in Urdu by most renowned and famous scholars and is ideal for students who are determined to further their study of Islamic Sciences based on authentic teachings of Quran and Sunnah. The program consists of 12 courses which are divided into 2 parts; Part I and Part II. Each course consists of 30 modules with learning materials such as video lectures, notes and assessments. Each lecture is approx. one hour long and is assessed after each lecture through quizzes. At the end of the course, final exams are conducted and certificates are issued to those who pass all the courses with at least 60% marks.

The certificate awarded on completion of this program will not entitle the student to teach different Islamic Sciences but this program is only intended to introduce the student to basic Islamic sciences which will allow them to further their study in the respective domains, in shaa Allah.

FOUNDATION OF ISLAMIC STUDIES - PART 1

This course offers a foundational study of Islamic belief ('Aqeedah), addressing its significance and principles according to the understanding of the pious predecessors. It outlines the pillars of faith and Islam in the light of Hadith e Jibreel (علیہ السلام) and examines the core beliefs including belief in Allah, His Angels, His Books, His Messengers, the Last Day, and Divine Decree. The course also discusses shirk and its types, as well as the recognition and miracles of Awliyah Allah (friends of Allah).

This course provides basic instruction in the Arabic language through a clear and accessible approach. Utilizing a natural method of language acquisition, students will be introduced to short sentences, with a focus on developing the ability to respond to basic questions and engage in simple dialogues. Additionally, essential grammatical concepts will be taught in a comprehensible manner.

This course offers a comprehensive study of the jurisprudential chapters related to the concept of purification (Taharah) in Islam in the light of Qur'an and Sunnah to ensure a sound and well-grounded understanding.

This course covers fifty comprehensive hadiths that encapsulates the foundational principles and essential rulings of Islam. These narrations are widely referenced by scholars as key sources of evidence in Islamic discourse and jurisprudence.

This course will outline the essential etiquettes that students must observe in order to attain not only academic excellence but also to embody the true effects of knowledge in their character and conduct as a seeker of Islamic knowledge.

This course offers a detailed study of the life of the Prophet Muhammad (صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم), aiming to provide a clear and authentic understanding. By the end of the course, students will have detailed knowledge of his life and related events that occurred in the Makki Era.

FOUNDATION OF ISLAMIC STUDIES - PART 2

This course offers a detailed study of the first half of Kitab al-Tawheed, a foundational text on Islamic monotheism. It aims to simplify the understanding of Tawheed, clarify common misconceptions, and explain its practical implications, all supported by evidence from the Qur'an and Sunnah.

This course is designed to equip students with the skills necessary to understand the Qur’an and Sunnah directly by developing their Arabic reading and comprehension abilities. It focuses on teaching sentence structure, correct usage, and essential grammar in a clear and engaging manner, while also fostering a genuine passion for the Arabic language among learners.

This course focuses on Fiqh al-Salah (the jurisprudence of prayer), aiming to provide a thorough understanding of its rulings. It highlights the significance of prayer, presents its laws in an accessible way, and draws special attention to common errors made during the prayer.

In this course, students will study the well-known hadith compilation on legal rulings, ‘Umdat al-Ahkam which includes the complete Book of Purification (Kitab al-Taharah) and part of the Book of Prayer (Kitab al-Salah).

This course offers an introductory overview of the science and principles of Tafsir (Qur’anic interpretation), focusing on Surah Al-Fatihah and other short chapters from the Qisar al-Mufassal. It aims to help students understand the meanings of these surahs and build the ability to discern between accurate and flawed interpretations.
