Ustazah Nighat Hashmi, daughter of Mr. Abdur Rahman Hashmi and a sister of Dr. Farhat Hashmi is the eminent female scholar of Pakistan who is recognized worldwide for her in-depth knowledge of the teachings of the Quran, Hadith, Seerah, and contemporary issues of women . She completed her formal education from premier institutions like University of the Punjab and holds M.A degree in Arabic, Islamic studies and Education. She also completed her M.Phil degree in Teacher's Education. She served as a lecturer in DharamPura College for Women (Lahore) and as an Assistant Professor of Islamic Education in Islamia University (Bahawalpur).
Ustazah Nighat Hashmi is the first Asian Female Islamic scholar who had the privilege to translate and compile the interpretation of the Quran. Her best work is the Quranan Ajaba (Tafseer of Quran in Question & Answer form). She has written over 200 books on the subjects related to Quran, Hadith, Seerah, Contemporary issues of women, and a detailed study of Islam as a way of life.
In 1996, she established the first educational institute “Al-Noor International” in Bahawalpur, with the objective of promoting character building and behaviour modification among Muslim youth in the light of teachings of Islam. She is the CEO of Al-Noor International Institute.
